Real Madrid prospect Victor Chust is reportedly being pursued by Empoli, who are set to begin talks with intermediaries over a summer move.

According to Tutto Mercato Web, Serie A side Empoli are interested in signing Real Madrid youngster Victor Chust this summer and are set to open talks with intermediaries to get the deal over the line.

Chust has been with Real Madrid for ten years, having joined the club’s youth setup from the Valencia academy. The 22-year-old has developed steadily through the ranks and has made 26 appearances for Los Blancos’ Castilla outfit. He got his first-team breakthrough in January last year under Zinedine Zidane and has played thrice for the senior side.

Real Madrid sent Chust out on loan to Cadiz for the 2021/22 campaign, and the Spaniard made a solid impression, featuring in 25 La Liga games as his team just about survived the threat of relegation. Back at Real Madrid, the defender is unlikely to get a look-in into Carlo Ancelotti’s squad at the moment.

Indeed, Real Madrid already have Eder Militao, David Alaba, Nacho Fernandez and Jesus Vallejo as options for the centre-back positions. On top of that, they have also signed Antonio Rudiger on a free transfer from Chelsea, leaving no space for a player like Victor Chust to make a breakthrough at the Santiago Bernabeu.

So, an exit in the summer looks the most likely prospect for the Real Madrid academy graduate. Lazio have shown an interest in the 22-year-old, while Los Merengues’ La Liga rivals Sevilla are also keen. Now, Empoli too have emerged as a suitor for Victor Chust heading into the summer transfer window.

Empoli finished 14th in Serie A last season and are hoping to strengthen their roster to aim for a higher finish in the upcoming campaign. Sebastiano Luperto is likely to return to Napoli after his loan spell, with talks over a permanent transfer not progressing well. So, it is important for Empoli to sign a new defender, making Chust a viable target.

To that end, the Serie A outfit are now planning to hold talks with intermediaries over a transfer. Chust is contracted with Real Madrid until 2023. Considering that he does not feature in the manager’s plans, a sale makes sense for the Spanish and European champions as they can make some cash from his departure rather than losing him for nothing next year.
