Martin Odegaard has recently opened up on his decision to leave Real Madrid for current side, Arsenal.

Arsenal sign Martin Odegaard again

One of Arsenal’s biggest signings of the summer transfer window saw them sign Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid.

The Norwegian had previously spent the second half of the 2020/21 campaign on loan in north London.

During this period, Odegaard would provide some much-needed creativity to an Arsenal sign that was relying heavily on Emile Smith Rowe in the no.10 role.

Odegaard would then have a slightly slow start to life back in the Premier League.

The Norwegian started in all of Arsenal’s league outings between gameweek three and gameweek eight.

However, the former Real Madrid man scored just once and provided no assists in said ties.

Odegaard would then be reduced to a sub role, featuring in every league game since week eight, but not starting a tie for four games in a row.

Now though, Odegaard has returned to the fold for Arsenal and has improved a great deal.

The 23-year-old is currently winning the battle with Smith Rowe for a starting spot in Arsenal’s front-four.

And, in his last five PL ties, Odegaard has scored three and assisted one for the north Londoners.

Now, the Arsenal star has recently opened up on his decision to leave Real Madrid for Arsenal:

“I feel like it was the right choice when things were the way they were in Madrid. I signed when I was 16 and now was the right time to look to the future. I thought this was the perfect club (Arsenal) for me.”
